Surroundings: We start on flat roads through the wetlands and meadows of the Aiguamolls and through agricultural fields, such as apples, peaches, olives, sunflowers and wheat. We pass through the villages of Fortia and Vila Sacra with their beautiful squares and ancient churches. We continue to Vilanova de la Muga, cross the C26 road and continue along farmland and a ford of the river Muga. We do not cross it, as we turn and take the bike lane/path that follows along the Muga towards Vilabertran known for its extraordinary monastery. Passing through Cabanes we arrive at Peralada, with its castle, casino and museum. Its beautiful squares, its gardens with nesting storks or its cozy bars and cafes invite to linger. From here we return through agricultural fields, passing by the castle of Vallgonera, continuing along an asphalt road to Vilanova and then on the Muga bike path to Castelló. Here we cross the river Muga by a medieval bridge and we continue through the natural park of the Aiguamolls South watching its birds and storks until reaching Sant Pere Pescador.
Highlight: The flora and fauna of the Aiguamolls natural park. River moors of the Muga. Villages with beautiful squares like Fortia, Cabanes, Vilanova, etc. Remarkable monastery and castles like Vilabertran and Peralada Vallgonera - each with its own history!
